I take it this is your new purchase that is without exhaust parts?

That is correct. The video actually tones it down. In real life I have a hard time thinking while driving this.

my civic has a mufflerless exhaust, but its designed that way, I've driven without an exhaust pst the cat, and that was simply intolerable

Yeah, it's a million times worse when it terminates UNDER the car like this.

Loud. Also smoke starts pouring through the shift boot because that's about where the exhaust ends. Better have your windows rolled down.

Piston rings? Because if that's what you're referring to, then no. Cylinders 1, 3, and 4 are at 125psi, and cylinder 2 is at 50psi. I put in a slightly-too-long spark plug to raise the compression in that cylinder slightly, which helped surprisingly, and I'm going to use some snake oil "fix low compression" engine oil additive because I have nothing to lose by doing so. After the spark plug thing, Cylinder 2 doesn't misfire as much any more but it's still a weak fire.

if you've got oil smoke in your exhaust, the other option is valve seals going bad, magic oil might stand a chance of helping with that.

you should do a leak down test if you can.

I have a hard time believing that a bigger spark plug fixed anything, I can believe that a new spark plug would improve things though.

Valve stem seals are brand new. We put some oil in the cylinder and the car idled brilliantly until the oil burned off.
